RunGopher weblinks usually look like:
run-go.fr/X456cz
However, RunGopher can be configured to use your own domain name, so that the links inside RunGopher conversations look like:
e.mycompany.com/X456cz
How?
To do this, you need to use a 'subdomain'. In the example above, the subdomain is 'e'. We suggest using a one letter subdomain to keep the url short.
Once you've chosen the letter that you want to use, just ask your IT department to follow these instructions (these instructions are specific to GoDaddy but they should be similar for your hosting provider as well):
- Go to the DNS Management page.
- At the bottom of the Records list, click Add and select A from the Type drop-down menu.
- Complete the other fields:
- Host - Enter the subdomain you want to use. So in the example above, you just enter 'e' in this field.
- Points to - Enter 13.54.212.190 (that's our server)
- TTL - Select how long the server should cache the information.
- Click Save.
Once you've done that, you'll need to email us to let us know the subdomain you set up, and then we can configure your account to use it.
