You can use custom data to include extra fields in messages, eg. you could use {{custom1}} to store the name of the account manager for each contact. Then your message could say:
"Hi {{firstName}}, it's {{custom1}}. My Great Event is coming up and we'd love to have you there. Are you able to attend?"
Now, when uploading your contacts, tick the box saying "Use custom fields", as shown here:
And then download the contact template. Fill in all the required fields, plus the "custom1" field, like so:
Then when you press Send, Jenny will receive the following message:
"Hi Jenny, it's Brett. My Great Event is coming up and we'd love to have you there. Are you able to attend?"
Custom fields are always written to the output reports, so you can also use them to make sure some extra contact data makes it in to the conversation and extracted reports. For example, this is what Jenny will look like in the 'Extracted Data' report:
